We have collected data to calculate CTK's current carbon footprint, so we have a carbon baseline. We will take actions to reduce carbon emissions and become more energy efficient. 

Green Schools Programme

In March 2024, the Green Schools Programme helped us calculate our carbon footprint. Our Eco Heroes explored our carbon footprint-this is the total carbon emissions produced by the school. They calculated the annual carbon emissions made by electricity and gas usage in tonnes of CO₂e. We learnt that gas and electricity are measured in kilowatt-hours - they had to convert from kWh to CO₂e (kg) and then into tonnes of CO₂e. They also added up the carbon emissions produced by different items the school purchases- a brilliant real-life application of maths!

Let's Go Zero Carbon Footprint

We have worked really hard to calculate our carbon footprint using The Eco Schools Count Your Carbon Calculator. Now we have a baseline, we can plan ways to reduce the school's carbon footprint. By cutting emissions, we can slow climate change and protect the planet for future generations.
